Newsletter 4-6

Math Workshop:

We continued working on Module 6 this week. Module 6 is Foundations of Multiplication and Division. In this module, students will determine whether a group of objects is odd or even, are equal or unequal groups, write repeated addition equations and divide a rectangle into equal parts (array). We took our topic B quiz over equal groups. The students are doing good with these difficult skills.
Language Workshop:

This week we wrapped up and assessed over our Economics Unit. Students learned about personal cost benefit by using the texts The 3 Little Pigs and A Chair for My Mother. We did many whole-group activities that allowed your student to identify the cost and the benefit of different scenarios. Ask your child to give you some examples of these. We also reviewed contractions and assessed over this skill.

Reading Workshop:

We continued learning about cause and effect. We used the books A Chair for My Mother, The 3 Little Pigs, and Click, Clack, Moo to work on this skill. We also took an assessment on Thursday. Students did a good job identifying causes and effects.
Writing Workshop:

This week students were given the prompt, “ In your opinion what is the best movie or book?” They had to independently work through the 5 steps of the writing process to complete an opinion piece over the prompt. I am excited to see the great growth your child has made in writing this year.
